Remember those old time cops and robbers movies. That’s the inspiration for January’s feature race “Cops and Robbers”. Each racer will enter a team of one cop car and one robber car. The Cops and Robbers will all race together. Robber cars are pretty much open to whatever, but the cop cars should be somehow designated as a cop car, either with lights, paint, or writing/graphics.
The combined weight of the team must be 90 grams or under. There is no individual restriction on the weight of the Cops and Robbers. You get to decide how to distribute the weight, but remember, both the Cops and the Robbers race together and both contribute to the team total, so you want both to do well.

2019 Diecast 64 Racing Season Updates
The 2019 Diecast 64 racing season is going to be awesome! We are going to make a few changes, but you can still count on great racing every month!
Here is a summary of how things will look for the 2019 diecast racing season.
4 classes
We will continue to have 4 classes to race in, but the Hot Off The Shelf Class is going to be replaced with a lightweight stock class called the Sportsman Class. These will be stock cars weighing in at 40 grams or less. The idea here is to provide a race class that will be easier for beginners to be more competitive, while still providing a challenge for more experienced racers with deeper collections. Most newer Hot Wheels cars come in around 40 grams or less and there is lots of really cool old stuff under 40 grams so this should be a class that will be easy for everyone to be involved in. So the four classes will be Open Modified, Open Stock, Sportsman, and the Feature Race.
Open Modified
The Open Modified class will stay pretty much the same as far as the racing. I like having a class with a consistent weight where you can experiment and try new things and still have a consistent baseline to compare improvements with. It will continue to be 57 grams and open to pretty much anything that fits the basic weight, height, width, and length requirements. There is no special way these cars need to look. Again, I’d like this to be a “testing” class of sorts where you can try new things in your quest to make cars faster. One change that I am implementing this year to keep people building and innovating is that the winning car of each monthly open modified race will be kept here at D64 until the end of the season at which time there will be a “Modified Car of The Year” race.
The Feature Race
The Feature Race class will stay pretty much the same. One thing that I will try to do a little more this year is vary the weight requirements. I would really like this class to be the premier race each month. This is where builders really get to show off a bit. Take everything that you’ve been doing in open modified and apply it to more restrictive requirements. Where open modified can show who can build fast cars, the feature race will show who can take that skill and build something with certain requirements like a different weight, or a particular look or theme, or to run on a special track. The Feature Race is a place to show off your best!
Open Stock
Open Stock will remain the same as last year. Hopefully we will continue to see some of the fastest cars in the country battle it out for the 2019 points championship.
Sportsman
As mentioned earlier the Sportsman Class will be a lightweight stock class with rules similar to open stock, only with a maximum weight limit of 40 grams. This will hopefully be a fun and competitive class for racers of all experience levels.
2019 Point Championships
All 4 classes will be part of a point scoring championship series where racers will accumulate points throughout the year. After the November races, a season champion will be crowned in each class, with trophies going to the top three places.
Racer of the Month
The racer of the month award will continue in the 2019 racing season and will be given to the racer that scores the most points that month across all 4 classes.
Diecast 64 Achievements
In addition to the aforementioned awards and recognition, in 2019 we will be starting to recognize smaller individual milestones achieved by racers as they continue to race and improve. These will be kept track on a leaderboard where racers can continue to see their progress in the quest for speed. Hopefully it will help racers of all levels have more fun, set goals, and continue to improve. Here is a preliminary list of achievements that racers can shoot for as part of the 2019 season.

The zombie apocalypse has begun and you need a ride. What would you drive? October’s feature race theme at D64 is the zombie apocalypse. Build the ultimate zombie apocalypse car. Now that may be different for each person and there are no hard and fast rules for what it should look like. Maybe it is a war machine with knives, guns, etc. Maybe it's a Mad Max style car. Maybe it's just a great getaway car. Maybe it’s the biggest, baddest SUV you’ve ever seen. Or maybe it's a camper that you can live in. It’s up to you, but build your ultimate zombie apocalypse car and then make it fast! Because we’re racing them in October!

Feature Race
The Red Desert Baja race is back! A few years ago I created the Red Desert Baja course. It is a tough track with jumps, bumps, and multiple surfaces. This is a one of a kind race on a one of a kind track that you definitely don't want to miss!
Cars run a time trial on the course, the top 16 cars will race head to head in a single elimination bracket.
Here is some video to give you an idea of the track.
Rules & Restrictions
Max weight 65 grams.
Max length 4 inches.
Max height 2.5 inches.
Width - should fit on Hot Wheels orange track. (I utilize orange track for the start gate.)
Any wheels and axles are allowed.
Stock or modified cars are allowed.
Dry lubes only
One car per entrant. If you have multiple people sending cars in the same house that’s fine. I want everyone that wants to enter to be able to, but this race is a lot of video work since everyone gets their own time trial video so just one car per person please.
There will be a $1 entrance fee per car.
Races will be videoed and posted online.

If 16 cars are unable to finish the course during the time trials, the furthest distance each car was able to travel will be used to round out the 16 car bracket.

The Hollywood Road Race is a theme race where the cars must be a car from a movie or TV show. It will be run on an open road course. Here is a video from last year to see what we are racing on.
- Cars must be a car from a movie or TV show. Cars cannot be a character car or cars that represent movies or shows, but need to be the actual car in the movie or show. You can enter cars that the manufacturers made to represent cars in movies or TV or you can modify and paint your own. If you modify and paint your own, it doesn't have to be the exact year, make, model, or wheels, but should be close. Do your best to replicate the paint job, but it doesn't have to be perfect.
- Cars can be modified or stock.
- Any wheels are allowed.
- Max weight 57 grams
- Max length 3.75 inches
- Max height 2 inches
- Width - must fit on Hot Wheels orange track.

Feature Race
This month's feature race is March Madness, and March Madness is all about college basketball. Towards the end of March one of the greatest events in sports takes place, the NCAA basketball tournament. Your team may not make it all the way to the Final Four, but lets see how far you can take them on the track. For the March Madness race, your cars need to represent a college or university. Cars should be the school colors of the college/university you are representing. If you can do logos with sticker or paint, etc. that would be cool too. Anything you can do to your car to show off that school spirit. When you send in your cars make sure to include what college/university your cars are representing.
Cars can be stock or modified.
Cars must be 57 grams or under.
